Denmark: New business network for refugee integration in the workplace
Refugees are on average less represented in the European labour market than other groups of Third Country Nationals. To boost their participation in Denmark, the Ministry of Immigration and Integration supported municipalities in developing mentor corps to break down barriers in 2016. A year later, the statistical agency reported increased refugee employment which is the result of, among other factors, an improved reception at municipal level. The Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration is now launching a Integration Forum.
The Forum is presented as a platform offering opportunities for mutual learning and knowledge exchange to Danish businesses interested in tools and inspiration to include and keep refugees in the workplace. The first network activities are 3 regional meetings for businesses taking place in May and June 2018:
- East: Hosted by ISS in Søborg. May 28 at 1 pm to 4 pm
- South: At Norisol in Fredericia. May 29 at 3 pm to 6 pm
- Mid/North: At midtVask in Aarhus. June 12 at 1 pm to 4 pm
On European level, the European Commission signes a multi-stakeholder Partnership for Integration in December 2017 several with social and economic actors. The aim is to ensure that inclusive labour markets draw from skills and talents of refugees.
