Czech Republic: Universities ready to help refugees

Target Group

Prague's Charles University wants to offer free study for refugees. Refugees who have been granted asylum and can legally stay in the Czech Republic will be given the opportunity to study free of charge in study programmes in English. Applicants must successfully undergo a standard entrance examination (held in English), as well as meet other admissions criteria. Accommodation for these students will be provided on the university campus.

Brno's Masaryk University wants to collaborate with a refugee facility in Zastávka u Brna. Its students and teachers have offered to help the refugees by means of their expert capacities in various fields of knowledge. According to Mikuláš Bek, the Masaryk University rector, “it is necessary to start with legal, medical and language assistance.”
