Czech Republic: European Social Fund to support social housing for those displaced from Ukraine

The European Social Fund (ESF) in the Czech Republic published a new call offering funding for social housing, in particular housing for those from Ukraine. The aim of the call is to ensure support for the social inclusion of people in need of housing and those at risk of needing housing.

A total of CZK 340 milionů (EUR 14 100 million) has been allocated under this call, with at least CZK 200 million (EUR 8.3 million) designated specifically for the support of temporary protection holders from Ukraine. Eligible activities include:

a) housing-led approaches, which involve moving clients into standard rental flats with the additional support of social workers, thereby ensuring the longer term sustainability of the solution. The minimum number of households/apartments involved in one project is 10 in municipalities with over 10 000 inhabitants, and 5 in municipalities with under 10 000 inhabitants.

b) integrated and systemic solutions, such as the establishment of a social real estate agency, building guarantee funds, housing management, operation of a contact point for housing, coordination and networking of local actors)  

Eligible applicants are NGOs, municipalities, contributory organisations established by municipalities and regions, voluntary associations of municipalities, and social service providers. The application deadine is 30 May 2023.
