Winners of the 2018 #BeInclusive EU Sport Awards announced

The three winners of the 2018 #BeInclusive EU Sport Awards were recognised at a ceremony in Brussels on 27 November 2018. The awards showcase efforts to use sport to increase social inclusion for disadvantaged groups, including ethnic minorities, refugees, people with disabilities, and at-risk youth.

The winners were:

  • Fit4Life – a programme from Finland designed to promote health and well-being of multicultural women through exercises, health check-ups, discussions, and educational activities
  • Sport & Refugees – a programme to promote integration of refugees in Germany through involvement with sports, organised by the association Sportjugend Hessen with support from the Hessian Ministry of the Interior and Sport
  • Judo club for people with disabilities FUJI – the first judo club in Croatia for children and young people with various disabilities

Besides the three winning projects, which received prizes of EUR 10,000 each, there were also six finalists each receiving EUR 2,500. The jury for the awards received 111 submissions. They evaluated the projects according to their contribution to social inclusion through sport based on criteria of impact, creativity, outreach, cost-effectiveness, sustainability, replicability, and promotion of gender equality.
