Swedish Government looks to increase requirements for citizenship
The Swedish Government has decided to set up an inquiry that will seek to modernise and reform the Swedish Citizenship Act. The task is based on an agreement between the government, the Centre Party and the Liberals.
The inquiry will propose that passing a test on Swedish language and basic social orientation be requirements for Swedish citizenship.
The inquiry will present a report on language and social orientation requirements to the Government on 15 October 2020.
