Understanding Migration – Controlling Migration, a report of the Austrian Migration Council
The Austrian Migration Council for Austria was set up in April 2014 at the Federal Ministry of the Interior as a non-governmental and independent body. The panel consisted of members from ten fields of expertise connected to migration. Risks and opportunities have been now identified and described in this report.
This document has two main objectives:
- to make the connections in the field of migration visible and to show that there are no simple and quick answers in this complex policy field.
- to show that measure in one field causes effects in other field. This report is intended to contribute to objectivity in a debate that is often politicised.
Main outcomes of the report are summarised by Federal Ministry of the Interior (in German).
