Malmö - International seminar: City Development Policy for Inclusion
Start: 30/08/2017 at 09:00
End: 31/08/2017 at 18:00
The International Urban Development Association (INTA) invites national and local policymakers, city planners and other urban actors to an international seminar on migrants & refugees on the 30 and 31 of August. The seminar aims to develop sustainable and effective solutions for city leaders and public actors to integrate migrants & refugees in the urban economy, and cultural and social landscape. The central focus of the event will be to map instruments that would ensure migrant integration in the context of a sudden growth of migrant & refugee populations.
Since the peak of refugee arrivals in 2015, many innovative projects have been launched on municipality level. Unfortunately, most were small scale initiatives. Cities struggle to sustain these projects over time or scale them up in a cost-effective manner. INTA has invited six experts from different European countries to present their projects, cases or organisations and initiate a discussion about cities instruments for the inclusion of migrants & refugees. Participants will particularly discuss sense of urban belonging, migrant entrepreneurship, prejudices and fears, innovative educational services, among other topics. Speakers and provisional programme
Those interested are invited to register by email and send their name and company details to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The seminar is part of the Opportunity Space Festival organised in Malmö by the Van Alen Institute and the City of Malmö, and taking place from 22 August to 2 September 2017.
