Lisbon - XII International Congress of the Portuguese Refugee Service
In 2015, more than one million people came to the European Union through the Mediterranean, fleeing conflicts or violation of their fundamental rights in their home countries. To face this exodus, the Portuguese Refugee Council wants to promote solidarity and integration of this population as part of the future of Europe, assuming that the causes that forced them to flee their countries of origin will not allow their return in the short term.
This International Congress will bring together several national and international experts, including academics, historians, international and non-governmental organisations, students and journalists. It seeks to provide a forum for presentation and discussion of public policy and civil society initiatives that promote the reception and effective integration of refugees, recognising them as added value to the host societies.
