The Council of Europe is organising a final conference and a networking event on “Building Inclusive Societies” in Brussels on 23 June 2015.
The conference builds upon the collaborative experience of two transnational projects, “Diversity in the Economy and Local Integration” (DELI) and “Communication for Integration” (C4I), co-financed by the European Integration Fund and involving 21 European cities. The overall goal of the two projects is to promote intercultural integration and to enhance democratic governance and security.
The event will showcase innovative and effective approaches to the economic integration and contribution of migrants, and the fight against negative diversity-related perceptions and attitudes. Making the business case for diversity, helping local governments to better articulate strategic economic goals and support migrant entrepreneurship, while promoting balanced communication about diversity and migration, are the cornerstones of the projects “Diversity in the Economy and Local Integration” and “Communication for Integration”.
A large number of participants, including policy-makers and practitioners responsible for the for the field of democracy, diversity and integration from the Council of Europe, the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, Brussels-based think-tanks and NGOs, representatives from regional representations, selected experts and media are expected to take part in the event.
The draft agenda is attached.
Participation is to be confirmed by 29 May 2015.
