Call for participants: Workshop on muslim minorities in the context of refugee crisis in Europe

The Middle East and Central Asia Unit of the Department of Political Studies at SGH Warsaw School of Economics is organising an intensive interdisciplinary workshop for young researchers, NGO and youth workers, as well as experienced professionals working on attitudes towards Muslims in the EU, with a special focus on Central and Eastern Europe. The aim of the workshop is to provide knowledge, practical tools and skills which will enable the participants to understand the character of the refugee crisis and attitudes towards the Muslims.
The workshop will specifically cover the following issues:
- Islam and Muslims in (Central and Eastern) Europe; conducted by experts in Islamic studies
- 2014+ refugee crisis: causes, consequences, coping strategies and policy responses; conducted by migration and international relations experts
- Islamophobia and the fear of ethnic or religious others: reasons, manifestations, and ways to counteract it; conducted by sociologist and psychologist
- Public speaking: the art of discussion and rhetoric to enable effective public usage of the knowledge and skills gained in the first 3 workshops; conducted by media and rhetoric experts.
Those interested are asked to apply online by 31 May 2018. Successful applicants will be notified by 20 June 2018.
