Start: 27/10/2016 at 14:00
End: 27/10/2016 at 20:00
On 27 October 2016 at the Albert Hall in Brussels, the three winners of the 2016 Social Innovation Competition will be awarded and receive a prize of €50,000 each. This ceremony marks the culmination of this year's competition to find innovative ideas to realise the potential of refugees and migrants in Europe.
Under the theme Integrated Futures, the 2016 edition was looking for innovations in products, technologies, services and models that can support the reception and integration process of migrants. These innovations could relate to education, employment, access to housing, health services, community cohesion or cultural diversity. Applications led by or co-created with refugees and migrants were encouraged, and 1,095 ideas were received. A jury of social innovation and refugee integration experts has selected the 10 finalists from Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Spain, Turkey and the UK.
During the ceremony, guests will have the opportunity to listen to the ten finalists' solutions and the European Commissioner Elżbieta Bieńkowska, before this year's three winners are announced. In addition, one of the 3 2015 winners will be awarded with the impact prize for achieving the greatest results.
