Warsaw – Together for Equal Treatment – Cooperation between local governments and NGOs
Local governments can be important allies for NGOs working on equal treatment and prevention of discrimination and related violence. Examples from several cities in Poland show that such cooperation between local governments and NGOs is possible and can include not only individual actions but also systemic solutions such as local policies.
This meeting, organised as part of the project Central and Eastern European Network for the Prevention of Intolerance and Group Hatred (CEE Prevent Net), will discuss effective and sustainable cooperation between local governments and NGOs working in the area of equal treatment and countering discrimination and discrimination-motivated violence.
The meeting invites representatives of local governments and NGOs—both those who already have experience with joint action and those who would like to initiate such cooperation. As a starting point for the discussion, the meeting will introduce examples of cooperation from Gdańsk, Warsaw and Podlaskie Voivodeship. An important part of the meeting will be discussion and exchange of experiences between the participants.
The CEE Prevent Net project is supported by the European Commission and the Visegrad Fund. The project is under the patronage of the Polish Ombudsman.
