Prague – Cities, Migration and Integration
This conference, organised by the Consortium of Migrant Assisting Organisations, will present innovative approaches, inspirational experiences and functional models of engagement in the integration of migrants at the local level. Among the wide spectrum of participants—representatives of municipalities and state administration, employers, civil society organisations and academics—will be international guests whose experiences will contribute to the debate on empowering municipalities in the area of migrant integration.
Main conference themes
- Migrant integration in the context of multilevel governance: Presentation of best practices and experiences of cities in the Czech Republic and abroad, introduction of the recent publication Local Authorities Migrant Integration Guide by the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe
- The role of municipalities and employers in social integration of foreign workers: Introduction of several innovative projects and approaches to integration at the local level from the Czech Republic and abroad
The conference will consist of two plenary meetings and two working group debates or workshops, which will follow the plenaries. The conference languages are Czech and English, with simultaneous interpretation provided. Registration is required to attend.
The conference is organised by the Consortium of Migrant Assisting Organisations in cooperation with the Association for Integration and Migration, Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung (Prague Office) and the ODIHR under the auspices of the Mayor of Prague, Zdeněk Hřib. An international conference ‘Education and Capacity Building for Work with Migrants’ will precede the conference at the same venue on Monday, 13 May 2019.
