Osijek - Working with refugees and migrants in local communities (Training)

The Center for Peace, Nonviolence and Human Rights - Osijek is inviting young people aged between 18 to 30 to apply for a training to be held from 23 to 29 July 2018 on Working with Refugees, Migrants and Asylum seekers in local communities. The deadline for application is 31 March 2018. Register

25 young professionals or volunteers from Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Germany and the UK who already work with refugees, asylum seekers and migrants (volunteers or professionals) or those who intend to engage in these activities will be selected to be trained as multipliers. Applicants profile

After the training, these multipliers could support peers in their work through different virtual tools or create joint actions. The training will therefore provide them with skills to identify and generate integration actions. The composition of the programme which will be carried out in English will partially be informed by the input of the participants themselves in the following key themes:

  • position of refugees and migrants in Europe
  • community level youth engagement
  • how to involve newcomers in youth organisation
  • how to combat discrimination
  • how to set up and disseminate a good practice
  • workshop management
  • non-formal education

Participation in is free of charge and organisers cover the cost of accommodation, travel and food for all selected candidates. The training is organised within the framework of the Erasmus+ Home Away From Home project overall aim is to identify, analyse and promote innovative, community based approaches to integration of new citizens in Europe.
