The Next Door Family is back in 3 EU countries

Poster of the event

Immigrant or refugee families invite native families over lunch at their home, and vice versa. This is the concept of the Next Door Family. Participants are encouraged to share their culture of origin, traditions and life stories with people they will be meeting for the first time through the experience of sharing their food . All meetings will take place on Sunday 26 November 2017 in Portugal, Spain and the Czech Republic.

The project Next Door Family was created in 2004 in the Czech Republic and expanded to other EU states since 2012. It results from the inclusive neighborhoods concept and relies on the interaction between immigrants and the host society. It aims at building a multicultural society and mutual understanding between different cultures.

In Portugal, this initiative is promoted by the High Commission for Migration, in partnership with public and private entities throughout the country. Those interested are invited to send their application form (attached) to Register with Slovo 21 for the Czech Republic and with SOS Racismo for Spain.
