Malta – Training programme for cultural mediators in health care
The Migrant Health Liaison Office of Malta’s Primary Health Care Department is organising a 20-hour training programme for cultural mediators in the health care field. The training programme will be carried out in collaboration with the Migrant Learners Unit of the Education Department.
Language barriers pose significant challenges to providing effective and high-quality services. Trained cultural mediators can play a key role. For example, cultural mediators in health care can assist teachers to be better equipped in identifying a health problem in children coming from a different background. This 20-hour training programme was specifically developed to enable participants to become competent cultural mediators.
The training will run from 23rd to 30th July 2019, from 9:30 to 13:30, and will be held at the Volunteer Centre in Valletta. Interested individuals must register by email by 22nd July to firstname.lastname@example.org.
