EU Solidarity with Ukraine: protecting people fleeing the war

European Commission

The European Commission (EC)'s Directorate General for Migration and Home Affairs (DG HOME) and the Mission of Ukraine to the EU are organising an information session with the participation of experts from the EC, diplomatic missions, NGOs and civil society working with those fleeing the war in Ukraine and the Ukrainian diaspora.

The session will provide the opportunity for informal discussion, including Q&A sessions, focusing on the provision of temporary protection to people fleeing the war in Ukraine and entering the EU, as well as on anti-trafficking and other practical aspects of the integration of those fleeing Ukraine.

During the event, Ambassador of Ukraine to the EU H.E. Vsevolod Chentsov and Beate Gminder, Deputy Director General of DG HOME, will discuss the extended implications of the war in Ukraine and the ways in which the EU can work to welcome refugees. Deputy Minister of the Interior of Ukraine Mery Akopyan and Diane Schmitt, EU Anti-Trafficking Coordinator, will present the anti-trafficking measures taken by the EU to protect those fleeing war.

The session will be live-streamed and can be accessed directly on YouTube and Twitter. Those wishing to attend the event in person must register here. Further information can be found in the indicative agenda attached below.
