Brussels - Digital Journey: From Inclusion to Empowerment
Start: 18/10/2018 at 08:00
End: 19/10/2018 at 14:30
On 18-19 October 2018, the organisation ALL DIGITAL will host its 11th annual summit under the title ‘Digital Journey: From Inclusion to Empowerment’ in Brussels, Belgium. The overall topics of the conference revolve around global citizenship, awareness-raising about human rights, media literacy and (digital) inclusion, with a special focus on how digital technologies and digital skills trainings can foster migrant and refugee integration into the host community.
Migrant and refugee integration will be addressed during the panel discussion ‘How can digital storytelling boost social inclusion?’, where panelists will discuss the use of digital storytelling with migrants and refugees as a means of healing trauma, raising awareness about their situation, improving their communication skills and connecting with the local population.
In a dedicated parallel session titled ‘IT skills for young refugees and migrants’, panelists will discuss what information technology (IT) skills refugees and migrants need and how IT creative trainings can foster social integration into the host country. In this session, participants will share experiences from the Digital Welcome project, which focuses on improving IT skills of third-country nationals.
The event is intended for anyone who works with migrants or refugees (social workers, trainers, volunteers, educators, youth workers) or designs policies for their inclusion (local and regional authorities, employment agencies, national governments, European Commission units responsible for migrant integration, education, employment policies, educational authorities).
The event is free of charge, but registration is obligatory. To register for the event, please complete the registration form no later than 15 September 2018. For questions concerning registration, please email Ekaterina Clifford at email@example.com.
ALL DIGITAL is an association of digital competence centres across Europe. Digital competence centres are places where anyone can go to use digital technologies (computers, mobile devices, etc.) and learn new digital skills.
