Bratislava – 7th EMN Educational Seminar on Migration
The European Migration Network (EMN) Educational Seminar on Migration is a unique learning platform about migration organised in Slovakia. This year’s edition of the seminar, to be held in Bratislava from 20-22 August 2019, focuses on the Impacts and Opportunities of International Migration.
This three-day seminar fosters networking, experience sharing and discussion among (inter)national experts and participants. The event provides professionals working in state institutions, NGOs and other entities with comprehensive and up-to-date information on migration, contributing to an enhanced policymaking process in Slovakia, other EU countries and Norway.
The seminar is organised by the International Organization for Migration as the coordinator of EMN activities in Slovakia, with funding from the European Union. Each year, the seminar focuses on a different migration-related topic.
- Politics and migration
- How and why do people decide to migrate?
- Good governance as way forward in migration
- Migration in an urbanising world
The event will be accompanied by an additional programme for the broader public, including events such as a screening of the documentary film The Good Postman („Dobrý poštár“) about the election of the mayor in a Bulgarian village near Turkey, and a performance of the play Home. Where is yours? („Domov. Kde je ten tvoj?“) with a public discussion on how to talk about migration afterwards.
The registration deadline is 1 July 2019.
