PRYD project developed a model of positive intervention for delinquent adolescents, based on supporting their resilience, to foster a better inclusion into the society.
The 70 adolescents resident in the Reeducation Centre Buzias were directly involved within the designed activities and were evaluated on 3 different stages of the project: in the beginning (before starting any intervention), after 8-10 months of interventions and in the end of the project (during the 20th months of the project).
The comparison of the assessment results made possible the development of an effective model of intervention with delinquent youth and provided information for the best adjustments of the model of intervention.
A method of Conflict resolution (LSCI) was then elaborated as well as different activities aiming to decrease the violent behavior of the delinquent adolescents and involving them in different activities. The project developed the life skills of the adolescents regarding a healthy life within a family, among friends and as citizens of a community.
During the project, the staff of the centre was trained to work in this aim with the teenagers in the centre. PRYD provided a new and healthy model which helps rebuild the delinquent adolescent’s resilience which, in turn, is a significant support for their social inclusion.
The project was developed with the professionals support and direct involvement of the partners, specialized in working with children with violent and challenging behaviour and children victims of abuse and neglect.
Partners also set-up an efficient European network in the field with the aim of cooperating also after the end of the project.
All the activities undertaken during this project and their consequent results contributed in achieving the overall goal of developing a model of positive intervention for delinquent adolescents, based on supporting their resilience, to foster a better inclusion into society.
