Energy is indeed the most popular priority selected in smart specialisation strategies across Europe, with over 2/3 of all EU regions choosing at least one energy-related priority. From the perspective of Cohesion Policy, effective uptake of funds related to innovation in energy will be a crucial element of this pillar, as well as the actual implementation of the smart specialisation strategies.

Many European regions have launched interesting initiatives in this field, not only aware of its implications in the energy sector, but also those associated to the environment and the generation of quality employment.
This launch event aims at achieving a shared vision on knowledge-based energy policy development in regions.
