The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is the European Commission's science and knowledge service which employs scientists to carry out research in order to provide independent scientific advice and support to EU policy.
While the popularity of international mobility programs has been increasing, debate continues over what students actually gain from this experience. It is often claimed that these programs provide students with the skills employers look for, which can significantly increase their earnings potential once they enter the work force. However, there is no clear consensus in the literature about this.
