JRC scientist J.F. Pekel launches the update of the GSWE at the 2019 Living Planet Symposium

An updated version of the Global Surface Water Explorer was launched at the Living Planet Symposium in Milan last month.

First launched in 2016, this free-to-use interactive online platform now maps the dynamics of the Earth's surface water over the past 35 years.

Marco Ratto is senior scientist at the European Commission’s Joint Research Center in Ispra, Italy, where he leads the project MACFIS (Macro-economic and fiscal surveillance). He studied engineering at the University of Genoa and obtained his Ph.D in Engineering in 1998.

According to the crop monitoring Bulletin for Europe, the yield outlook is fair at the EU level.
