We are doing science for policy
The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is the European Commission's science and knowledge service which employs scientists to carry out research in order to provide independent scientific advice and support to EU policy.
The JRC collects and maintains fisheries and aquaculture data transmitted by EU Member States under the remit of the Data Collection Framework (DCF) regulation. The datasets are assessed by teams of independent experts participating in working groups convened by the Scientific, Technical and Economic Committee for Fisheries (STECF) whose scientific advice is used to inform the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) decision making process. The dedicated portal includes information on the official data calls issued, access to the uploading facility, the definitions of variables, disaggregation levels and uploading procedures, as well as current and past legislation.
