We are doing science for policy
The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is the European Commission's science and knowledge service which employs scientists to carry out research in order to provide independent scientific advice and support to EU policy.
The JRC maintains the online Emission Database for Global Atmospheric Research (EDGAR) which was developed in collaboration with the Netherlands Environment Assessment Agency. It covers all GHG included in the Kyoto Protocol and is based on the latest scientific information and data from international statistics on energy production and consumption, industrial manufacturing, agricultural production, waste treatment/disposal and the burning of biomass. This database allows to model emissions for all countries of the world in a comparable and consistent manner. The estimates follow the IPCC guidelines and include all UNFCCC standards for emission sources.
