We are doing science for policy
The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is the European Commission's science and knowledge service which employs scientists to carry out research in order to provide independent scientific advice and support to EU policy.
At the dawn of the second TrainMiC® decade, a new format of the program was introduced.
A course on quality assurance of isotopic data used for environmental applications, organised by JRC-IRMM, was held 15-17 February, 2012 in Barcelona, Spain.
As many as 16 fellows of the Marie Curie Initial Training Network learned how to apply ISO 17025 standard in their own measurement environment. A novel approach in the program stimulated the TrainMiC® trainers to adopt the presented material according to the needs of the participants.
The fellows presented their work using a template, which included reasoning of the attempted measurements, analytical procedure(s), data range and units, etc. Problems to obtain reliable data and possible actions to control the quality were discussed in dedicated sessions lead by senior researchers and TrainMiC® trainers.
The new TrainMiC® format gives more options to tailor the TrainMiC® material and increases the direct benefit for the people trained.
