This workshop is organised by the Agriculture Unit of JRC-IPSC , in collaboration with the GEO Global Agricultural Monitoring and in the framework of the support of JRC to the Food Security Information Systems in the Horn of Africa.
JRC IPTS, as scientific partner, and Universidad Pablo de Olavide (Seville) jointly organise the 107th Seminar of the European Association of Agricultural Economists (EAAE) on "Modelling of Agricultural and Rural Development Policies" gathering more then 200 participants in Seville.
The 10th anniversary of the JRC On-Site Laboratories will be celebrated on 15 June at the Schloss Karlsruhe, and a programme for the media is organised on the day before at the JRC Institute for Transuranium Elements (ITU). This event will give the possibility to inform the public about the safety and reliability of the nuclear fuel cycle and the latest developments in the field of nuclear safeguards. Experts from the ITU and the Commission's Energy Directorate-General will show examples of this important work, to demonstrate how, for example, environmental sampling techniques work in practice and how inspectors are trained.
This will be the tenth of a series of well-established workshops on experimental, theoretical, simulation, and applied aspects of the thermophysical behaviour of matter in the millisecond to picosecond time regimes. It will include, among others, rapid resistive or inductive heating (volume), pulsed laser heating (surface), and levitation techniques. Presentations regarding new experimental techniques in the area of subsecond thermophysics are always welcome. The emphasis will be on measurements of thermophysical properties at high temperatures.
The School on the Physics and Chemistry of the Actinides will be organised as a tutorial session to the JdA conference.
Ecohydraulics is central to many challenges facing river and water resource management around the world. It links the disciplines of hydraulics with aquatic ecology, water engineering, fluvial geomorphology and biogeochemistry. The International Symposium on Ecohydraulics is the premier international meeting for scientists and innovative practitioners working across these disciplines focussing on the underpinning science and its application.
The training will include a workshop where academics and JRC researchers will share their knowledge on composite indicators.
The 12th edition of this European recruitment and student fair is going to be held in Strasbourg on 26 - 27 November 2010. The event is a unique plateform for exchange and meetings between universities, research institutes, actors of the German-French collaboration on the one side and students as well as high-school graduates on the other side with 155 exhibitors and 6.600 visitors in 2009.
From 25 to 30 May 2008, the JRC Institute of Energy (IE) is hosting the 13th International Symposium on Reactor Dosimetry. About 110 participants from all over the world, from Korea and Japan to Argentina and the United States and of course many participants from Europe exchange recent information on the measuring and calculation of neutron and photon exposure in nuclear reactors. Neutrons and photons have an important influence on the degradation of reactor construction materials and therefore the life time of a nuclear power plant. Also an inventory is being made on the approach of neutron dosimetry in new generation power plants.
