The network of NEPAD Water Centres of Excellence (NEPAD Water CoE) is a network of higher education and research institutions that conduct high-end scientific research in water and related sectors in order to provide policy guidelines to governments.
The Scientific, Technical and Economic Committee for Fisheries (STECF) provides scientific advice to the European Commission. The JRC assures the coordination of the STECF advice process.
Nuclear Generation II&III Association (NUGENIA)
Description: NUGENIA is an international non-profit making association, established in 2011 under Belgian law to promote research & development of nuclear power reactors of the 2nd and 3rd generation. NUGENIA has its headquarter in Brussels and has 92 member organisations (status June 2014).
Network on Neutron Techniques Standardization for Structural Integrity (NeT)
Jipsy Reference no. : 30371
Involved JRC Institutes: IET
Legal Basis: Euratom Framework Programme
Description: NeT supports progress towards improved performance and safety of European Nuclear Energy production systems through the development of best practices for numerical simulation and experimental assessment of welds relevant to NPP components. NeT brings together industrial partners, research institutes, including several European neutron facilities, and universities. Around 35 organizations from 10 European countries and from Australia, Korea and Japan actively contribute to the work.
The objectives of the network are pursued through comprehensive and very well defined experimental and numerical round robin exercises performed on selected model cases of fusion welds in materials for nuclear power applications. The work of NeT is organized in Task Groups. Work in Task Groups that are still active address different types of welds in austenitic stainless steel, low alloy ferritic steel, and aluminium and nickel base alloys.
The AQUILA Network, managed by the JRC ensures that air quality is measured in a coherent way in different counties and laboratories in Europe.
The Life Cycle Data Network is a web-based infrastructure giving access to quality assured data for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) provided by different actors, such as industry, national LCA projects, research groups and consultants.
The specific objective of RALCEA is to foster information based policy and to promote south-south cooperation on capacity development in the water sector by supporting the development of a network of knowledge centres in Latin America.
The Forum for Air quality Modelling (FAIRMODE) is a joint response action of the European Environment Agency (EEA) and the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC). Its aim is to bring together air quality modellers and users in order to promote and support the harmonised use of models by EU member countries, with emphasis on their application to the European Air Quality Directive.
JRC is co-charing together with Emisia (http://www.emisia.com) and the I.S.P.R.A. (http://www.isprambiente.gov.it/it) the Expert Panel on Transport of the Task Force on Emission Inventories and Projections (TFEIP). The TFEIP operates under the UNECE Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution. It supports Parties in the reporting of official air pollutant emissions and projections data to the Convention.
The JRC supports the implementation of European legislation regarding the levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in foodstuffs at the European Union Reference Laboratory for Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons.
