First IRIMA Workshop Industrial Research and Innovation Monitoring and Analysis: Identifying policy-makers and business community needs - Summary Report
Abstract: In order to identify how the IRIMA activities can best serve the information needs of policy makers and industrialists, a workshop was organised on 4th December 2012. The workshop was structured around two main topics:
- Session 1: High-growth innovative companies in Europe: What do we know about them? How to increase their number?
- Session 2: Globalisation and R&D localisation: How to attract R&D investments in Europe? What is the link between R&D and manufacturing activities?
The participants were requested to provide feed-back on the pertinence and policy relevance of the research questions identified for the next stage of the IRIMA project and to signal any missing areas where further empirical evidence would be needed.
As the Commission's in-house science service, the Joint Research Centre's mission is to provide EU policies with independent, evidence-based scientific and technical support throughout the whole policy cycle. Working in close cooperation with policy Directorates-General, the JRC addresses key societal challenges while stimulating innovation through developing new methods, tools and standards, and sharing its know-how with the Member States, the scientific community and international partners.
