JRC at ESOF 2014
The JRC's participation at the 6th edition of the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF), held in Copenhagen on 21-26 June 2014, includes sessions on fiscal austerity and economic growth, urbainsation in the 21st century, raw materials supply, detecting food fraud, and encouraging children to be more active, as well as an exhibition at the "Science in the City" festival.

The Joint Research Centre has actively participated at the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) held in Dublin between 11-15 July. JRC speakers covered a wide range of topics, such as modelling, sustainability, open innovation, scientific advise to policy making, smart grids, financial crisis, space weather, alternatives to animal testing or technology transfer.

President Barroso visits the Ispra site 
On Friday 16 March, the President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso accompanied by the European Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science, Máire Geoghegan-Quinn inaugurated the new European Crisis Management Laboratory (ECML), which supports EU's interventions in areas struck by disaster around the globe.
