Sara Rafael Almeida is a Policy Analyst at the Foresight, Behavioural Insights and Design for Policy Unit of the Joint Research Centre, where she applies insights from behavioural sciences to inform the design, monitoring and evaluation of EU policies. Before joining the Joint Research Centre, Sara worked at the eHealth and Health Technology Assessment Unit of the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE), European Commission. There she was responsible for the collection of evidence on the effectiveness of eHealth and mHealth solutions and for the identification of the challenges and opportunities of the use of big data in public health policy and research which resulted in a report. Before joining the European Commission, Sara was a Behavioural Lab Manager at the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM), Erasmus University Rotterdam, where she was responsible for co-designing and running research lab and field experiments in consumer behaviour and business economics. Sara holds a Law Degree from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal; and a Master of Science in Health Economics, Policy and Law, with a specialization in hospital reputation management, from Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
