Philip Nuss works as a scientific officer at the JRC's Sustainable Resources Directorate. At the JRC, Philip supports European Commission projects related to raw materials and life cycle assessment (LCA).
Before joining the JRC, Philip worked as a postdoctoral associate and lecturer at the Yale Center for Industrial Ecology in the United States, focusing on resource criticality and supply chain network analysis. He also taught courses on LCA at the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies (2012-2015). Philip studied chemistry in Germany (Kiel University, 2001-2007) and Earth & Environmental Sciences in the United States (University of New Hampshire, 2008-2012). Philip’s doctoral research focused on the use of LCA to assess the environmental implications of alternative waste management systems and green chemistry processes in the U.S. Northeast.
