Nicole Ostlaender is a Scientific Project Officer at the European Commission, Directorate-General (DG) Joint Research Centre. She holds an MSc in Landscape Ecology and a PhD in Geoinformatics. She has worked for many years in the area of multi-disciplinary research, combining natural and computer science, and she is specialised in ICT design, interoperability, standardisation, and semantics. Within the Competence Centre on Modelling (CC-MOD), she works on enhanced transparency and traceability of scientific evidence in use for policy-making. In this context she leads the activity on MIDAS, the European Commission's inventory of models and contributes to the CCMOD activity on Social Multi-Criteria Evaluation. CC-MOD website:
