We are doing science for policy
The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is the European Commission's science and knowledge service which employs scientists to carry out research in order to provide independent scientific advice and support to EU policy.
Ana Agúndez García is an economist in the Fiscal Policy Analysis team in JRC-Seville. She works on the analysis of EU Member States' tax-benefit policy reforms, and coordinates several research projects of the team.
Previously, she worked for other services of the European Commission where she conducted research and provided policy guidance on areas such as EU-wide tax initiatives on corporate taxation (e.g. the Common Consolidated Corporate Tax Base), pension reforms and social protection. She has also worked on financial assistance programmes and inter-institutional relations, on issues related to economic and financial affairs. Before joining the European Commission, she was a university lecturer and academic researcher in various areas of public sector economics and public finances at the University of Extremadura (Spain).
She holds economics degrees from the University of York - UK (DPhil and MSc) and from the University of Extremadura.
Her main areas of research and policy interests include the economics of taxation and social policies, fiscal federalism and the development of fiscal frameworks.
