We are doing science for policy
The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is the European Commission's science and knowledge service which employs scientists to carry out research in order to provide independent scientific advice and support to EU policy.

The IES has co-organised a high-level African soil event which will be held in the University of Leuven (KUL) in Belgium on 4 and 5 December. The event will mark the launch of the French edition of the Soil Atlas of Africa, and the launch of a striking six week 'Africa in Profile' exhibition which will be open in the cloister of the University of Leuven (KUL) from 4 December 2015 - 29 January 2016.
In the framework of their ongoing cooperation, the Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei are co-organising the XXth Edoardo Amaldi Conference - International Cooperation for Enhancing Nuclear Safety, Security, Safeguards and Non-Proliferation - 60 Years IAEA Atoms for Peace and Development and Euratom Treaty.
This two-day high level conference will provide an important forum for experts, scientists, diplomats and policy-makers to promote progress towards enhanced nuclear safety, security, safeguards and non-proliferation.
The XIIth Congress of the European Association of Agricultural Economists (EAAE) "People, Food and Environments: Global Trends and European Strategies" takes place from 26 to 29 August 2008 in Ghent (Belgium).
The School focuses on neutron instrumentation, mainly for large-scale facilities, though a session will be devoted to instrumentation at compact, accelerator-driven neutron facilities.
Each year, the World Water Week is held in Stockholm. It addresses a particular theme to enable a deeper examination of a specific water-related topic.
While not all events during the week relate to the overall theme, the workshops driven by the Scientific Programme Committee and many seminars and side events do focus on various aspects of the theme.
The theme of the 2014 World Water Week is "Energy and Water"
At the upcoming international Congress "World Water Week", which will take place in Stockholm from 16 to 22 August, the JRC in collaboration with the Commission's Environment Directorate-General and EuropeAid will introduce to the international water community two web-based information systems that it has developed under the European Water Initiative (EUWI).
The fifth edition of the World Science Forum, organised by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in partnership with UNESCO, the International Council for Science (ICSU) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) will take place in Budapest from 17 to 19 November 2011.
The fourth World Science Forum takes place in Budapest on 5-7 November 2009. The Forum - focusing on "Knowledge and Future" - marks the tenth anniversary of the first World Conference on Science and will provide a strategic vision of the future of science in the global society of the 21st century.
