The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is the European Commission's science and knowledge service which employs scientists to carry out research in order to provide independent scientific advice and support to EU policy.
The United States - International Association for Landscape Ecology (US-IALE) 2016 Annual Meeting, organised by the Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center and the Southern Research Station of the USDA Forest Service, will be held April 3 - 7 2016 in Asheville, North Carolina, with the theme “Landscape Change”.
IES scientist Peter Vogt has been invited to conduct a full-day workshop on JRC image analysis software GuidosToolbox and discuss further application of related JRC image analysis products into EnviroAtlas products of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

On Tuesday, 12 January 2016,will give a scientific seminar at St Andrews University on JRC research and products for biodiversity and forest monitoring. The seminar, entitled Monitoring forest habitats: Projects and tools from local to global scales, will involve a brief overview on projects and products related to the monitoring, analysis, and evaluation of forest landscapes, including sample applications from a variety of end-users, targeting different thematic topics at a variety of scales.
The biannual meeting of the IUFRO Landscape Ecology Working Party will be held in Tartu, Estonia 23-30 August 2015.

The 20th annual session of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the 1992 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the 10th session of the Meeting of the Parties (CMP) to the 1997 Kyoto Protocol (the protocol having been developed under the UNFCCC's charter) will be held from 1 to 12 December 2014. COP 20/CMP 10 will be hosted by the Government of Peru, in Lima, Peru.
IES Head of Unit Alan Belward has been invited to give a keynote address in the first panel session of the high-level Conference on Deforestation and Forest Degradation in the context of climate change and biodiversity loss, co-organised by DGs Environment, Climate Action and Devco.
