The “Food Fraud” congress, hosted by the BVL and the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), will centre around the revision of the EU Control Regulation, which came into force in spring 2017. The new legal situation provides the framework for dealing in more depth with the implications of the new Regulation on the subject of food fraud. The event is addressed to all actors and stakeholders in this field.

We all, are exposed to a rising flood of information. This also holds true for the manifold aspects of food safety and consumer protection.

Food surveillance activities generate data and documents, describing and evaluating the events of the past. The central challenge now is to obtain sound knowledge for the assessment of future events from information from the food chain. This leads us to pose various questions such as:

The focus changed from feed safety to feed security and other challenges, ranging from traceability to new feed materials. The conference therefore intends to bring together colleagues from different horizons, such as research organisations, industry academia and public organisation, reflecting the diversity of feed challenges, to discuss the current and future challenges related to feed.

A new global indicator - Bridging gender, food security and nutrition

At todays' External Cooperation Info Point, IES scientist Estefania Custodio will give a presentation entitled A new global indicator - Bridging gender, food security and nutrition, in which she will speak about the new global indicator "Minimum Dietary Diversity for Women," designed to track women’s food and nutrition security, especially in resource-poor areas.

The general public, the development community and the staff of the European institutions are welcome to attend, and interaction and exchange are key objectives of these sessions
