The International Conference on Regional Climate-CORDEX 2016 (ICRC-CORDEX 2016), organised by the World Climate Research Programme, will bring together the the international community involved in regional climate research, focusing on high resolution climate information and its applications to vulnerability, impacts and adaptation and the full spectrum of potential end users of regional climate information. It will promote the CORDEX vision to advance and coordinate the science and application of regional climate downscaling through global partnerships.

At the 9th of March’s External Cooperation Info Point, IES scientist Apollonia Miola will give a presentation in which she will speak about "Climate resilient and low carbon development - the new JRC global index to support the EU’s Global Climate Change Alliance+ (GCCA+) programme within the context of the SDGs".

The JRC’s new open source index facilitates the ex-ante evaluation of the structural features of the vulnerability to climate change of the target countries of the GCCA+.

Shortly after the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals and just ahead of the 21st Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC in Paris (COP21), the JRC organises a joint event together with the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW) to discuss the inequality dimension of climate change. The event will be opened by JRC Director-General Vladimír Šucha and Chair of the JRC Board of Governors Walter Mönig as well as Annette Grüters-Kieslich, Vice-President, Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, and include a keynote by Apollonia Miola, JRC Institute for Environment and Sustainability.
