New knowledge is needed in order to translate these new data into actionable information to support decision making by governments, organizations and individuals.

The 2017 Human Planet Forum will take place in Enschede, Netherlands, 13-15 September 2017. The forum is open to established and potential partners interested to engage with the GEO Human Planet.

This year the International GNSS Summer School will be hosted by the Norwegian Space Centre and held at Longyearbyen, Svalbard – Spitsbergen, Norway, on 4-15 September 2017.

The summer school is held in cooperation with the European Space Agency (ESA), the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission and four internationally renowned universities: the Bundeswehr Universität München,  ISAE Supaero, Stanford University and Technical University (TU) Graz.

The European Commission's Bioeconomy Knowledge Centre (BKC) will be launched at this event as the Commission's central knowledge hub on the bioeconomy.

Its purpose is to help to manage knowledge demand (helping users identifying the knowledge they really need), and knowledge supply (informing knowledge producers about users' needs; making knowledge available to (EU) policy makers and stakeholders). 

Participants will explore how improved knowledge on bioeconomy can help policymakers better design related EU policies in the short, medium and long term.
