The European Commission's Bioeconomy Knowledge Centre (BKC) will be launched at this event as the Commission's central knowledge hub on the bioeconomy.

Its purpose is to help to manage knowledge demand (helping users identifying the knowledge they really need), and knowledge supply (informing knowledge producers about users' needs; making knowledge available to (EU) policy makers and stakeholders). 

Participants will explore how improved knowledge on bioeconomy can help policymakers better design related EU policies in the short, medium and long term.

The summer school will take place in Institute for Marine and Coastal Environment (IAMC-CNR) in Capo Granitola, Sicily (Italy)

JRC-Geel is organising the 7th Project Advisory Committee meeting of the EUFRAT Transnational Access project on July 6, 2017.


The Joint Research Centre in Geel is running a successful open access programme, entitled 'European Facilities for Nuclear Reaction and Decay Data Measurements' (EUFRAT).


Within EUFRAT JRC-Geel offers open access to its nuclear facilities for external researchers from the Member States and beyond.

This symposium will present the Joint Research Centre (JRC) Foresight Study "Delivering on EU Food Safety and Nutrition in 2050 – Future challenges and policy preparedness". The event is commissioned by European Commission department for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE). 

The goal of the symposium  is to contribute to the European debate on the future of food, to share views and food policies of EU countries, to provide a platform for a multi-disciplinary discussion on the future of food in the EU.
