    Can creativity be measured? This question was intensely debated by delegates from around the world at a two-day conference organised by the JRC's Centre for Research on Lifelong Learning (CRELL) in Brussels 28-29 May. Discussions between scholars, researchers and policy makers touched on subjects such as creative societies and creative classes, creativity and culture, creativity and economic growth, national and cross-national measurements of creativity and innovation. They also included detailed scientific questions on the very nature of creativity and the development of instruments for measuring creativity.

    The JRC will host a multi sector International Media Content Conference on 25 and 26 October 2012 in Brussels to present and discuss the results of a multiannual research project developed by JRC Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS) and put them within the context of EU policies.     At the request of ESF Managing Authorities in Bulgaria, JRC holds a 3-day Training Workshop in Pravets.

     

    The training provides the audience with the fundamentals of counterfactual analysis by presenting and discussing  the main methods used in the program evaluation literature. A number of examples are offered to illustrate the theory.  The topics covered includes randomization, propensity score matching, difference-in-differences, regression discontinuity design, instrumental variables, as well as practical considerations in preparing counterfactual impact evaluations.
