The aim of this workshop is to present the technical/scientific results of what has been achieved in 20 years' time and the experience in operating it, and to exchange information on new or existing monitoring techniques.
The 2008 ESARDA Annual Meeting, held in Luxembourg from 27 to 29 May 2008, focused on the new safeguards approaches in a more global context. The participants, among them many Euratom nuclear inspectors and recognised actors and practitioners of safeguards, highly valued first-hand insights into current issues and their effect on safeguards and non proliferation. Prof. Thomas Fanghänel, Director of the JRC Institute for Transuranium Elements (ITU), presented the research activities of the JRC in this area, as well as its co-operation and training activities.
The 2014 Conference on Big Data From Space, co-organised by the European Space Agency, the European Union Satellite Centre and the JRC, aims to bring together researchers, engineers, and users in the area of Big Data in the Space sector.
The European Reference Network for Critical Infrastructure Protection (ERNCIP) is planning to organise a 2nd workshop for infrastructure operators. With this workshop ERNCIP aims to continue the successful collaboration with operators within the network, building on the experience from the first workshop that was held in Brussels last year. We hope to make this workshop a very interactive one with plenty of time for discussions among the participants.
Organised under the French Presidency of the European Union, the Third European Security Research Conference (SRC'08) is being held in Paris on 29 and 30 September 2008. The objective of SRC'08 is to demonstrate the concrete implications of security research for citizens, on the one hand, and to stress the need to bring together research and innovation offers and security needs and the market on the other hand.

The European Security Research and Innovation Forum (ESRIF), a public-private partnership on security research and innovation, is holding its 4th plenary meeting from 19 to 21 May 2008 at the JRC in Ispra.
The 5th academic course in Nuclear Safeguards and Non-Proliferation is organised with the support of the European Safeguards Research and Development Association (ESARDA). The one-week course is hosted by the JRC’s Nuclear Safeguards Unit in Ispra (Italy) and will take place from 30 March till 3 April 2009. This course is recognised by the European Nuclear Education Network for the Master degree in Nuclear Engineering.
