    The JRC is organising an international workshop on hybrid cyber-physical testing, possibly real-time and/or geographically-distributed.

    It is a joint EU-USA initiative and the main objective is to bring together researchers from different geographic and academic backgrounds to present the recent scientific developments, discuss challenges, increase the broader knowledge and drive future collaborative research.

    The JRC, together with European Political Strategy Centre (EPSC), organises its annual conference bringing together experts, representatives from European institutions and Member States authorities, stakeholders from industry as well as academia addressing a broad audience.

    The JRC is organising a training course on modelling in support of quantitative fisheries science and advice. 

    JRC fisheries modelling experts will introduce about 20 students from all over Europe to the use of the open-source Fisheries Library in R (FLR), and the Assessment for All (a4a) modelling framework, a software tool developed under the lead of the JRC, in collaboration with other eminent international fisheries science institutions.

    This high level conference will be the official launch of a series of discussions that the EU Scientific Steering Committee for Expo will follow during the course of the six months of the Expo. It will set in motion a process which will lead to a set of recommendations for decision makers on future priorities for research, development and innovation in the food and agricultural sector. This process will also indicate how the recommendations can best be implemented both within the EU institutions and beyond after the EXPO.

    The JRC and the Met Office are jointly organising a seminar on ‘Disaster Risk Management: Science for Policy and Operations’, which will address two key areas; the use of science in risk management, as input to the planning phase, and to the preparedness phase through Early Warning Systems (EWS). The first seminar in 2012 identified a small number of targeted areas where partnerships for knowledge sharing could benefit national and European level services to give positive impacts for communities at risk.
