    As part of the Google Earth Outreach programme, this hands-on workshop provides an insight into the state-of-the-art Google mapping platforms (incl. Google Earth Engine, Earth Engine), with a  focus on their application by non-profit organisations.
    IES scientists M. Clerici and D. Simonetti have been invited to attend the workshop to represent the JRC, which has long been involved as a beta-tester of the Google platforms (MoU between JRC and Google).

    This symposium aims to bring together international experts in climate observations, research, analysis and modelling to discuss their research results, with an emphasis on how space-based Earth observations can help improve our knowledge about the current global and regional climate. It is expected to benefit climate-related risk management and help develop responsible and affordable climate change mitigation and adaptation options.

    The symposium, Remote sensing for conservation: uses, prospects and challenges, is jointly organised by the Zoological Society of London, NASA Science and the  group on Remote Sensing for Biodiversity within the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) at DLR, LSFE. It will illustrate how integrative approaches allow a better ecological understanding of the mechanisms shaping current changes in biodiversity patterns, while triggering innovative approaches, new research directions in remote sensing science and the development of new remote sensing products.

    The European Space Agency, in the context of the Scientific Exploitation of Operational Missions (SEOM) element, is organising an event dedicated to prepare for scientific exploitation of the Sentinel-2 mission, entitled "Sentinel-2 for Science Workshop", which will be hosted in ESA-ESRIN, Frascati, Italy, from 20 to 22 May 2014.

    Several IES scientists will be taking part in the Workshop, giving presentations and co-chairing sessions, including F. Achard, A. Belward, O. Leo and Y. Shimabukuro, who are members of the scientific committee.
