    The Disaster Risk Management Knowledge Centre (DRMKC) is organising its first seminar, which will address important aspects of Disaster Risk Management including risk assessments, early warning, and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. Up to 100 experts from private and public organisations from the EU and international organisations are expected to participate in plenary and break-out sessions, with ample time for debate in round table discussions.

    As the EU’s Strategy for a Digital Single Market unfolds, new spectrum-sharing approaches such as Licensed Shared Access (LSA) are helping to shape the future of citizens’ and industry’s connected experiences. LSA is a key example of policy-enabled technology innovations that can free up more quality spectrum resources on a shared basis to support the many needs of the connected single market, from Industry 4.0 to the many flavours of the Internet of Things.

    The sixth meeting of the EU expert working group on disaster damage and loss data will focus on:

    • Reviewing progress on implementation of the EU guidance on disaster loss data sharing

    • Reviewing the guidance on recording disaster loss data in light of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction

    In conjunction with the EU Code Week 2015, the JRC is organising the Happy Onlife laboratory for children between 8 and 12 and teachers from local schools. 

    They will validate innovative methods (Happy Onlife & Coding with Scratch) of developing formal and informal education for a better use of digital technologies, thus contributing to JRC research in this field.

    The JRC is organising an international workshop on hybrid cyber-physical testing, possibly real-time and/or geographically-distributed.

    It is a joint EU-USA initiative and the main objective is to bring together researchers from different geographic and academic backgrounds to present the recent scientific developments, discuss challenges, increase the broader knowledge and drive future collaborative research.
