    The JRC organised an expert workshop within the framework of the PREDICT project on ICTs in the Economy: empirical evidence and measurement challenges.

    Presentations and the debate addressed a broad array of aspects, including the evolving dynamics of ICT industries and their R&D, indicators and complementary measures on ICT content and ICT usage, as well as issues related to their effective deployment in the economy (skills, impacts on productivity).

    The conference will bring together a selected group of around a hundred guests, among them invited experts from the industry, analysts and EC policy makers. It will offer the opportunity to debate and identify the main trends that transform the ICT industry, R&D and markets, and to discuss the conditions for future developments in Europe.

    In conjunction with the EU Code Week 2015, the JRC is organising the Happy Onlife laboratory for children between 8 and 12 and teachers from local schools. 

    They will validate innovative methods (Happy Onlife & Coding with Scratch) of developing formal and informal education for a better use of digital technologies, thus contributing to JRC research in this field.

    JRC-IPTS is active in developing data analytics applications for evidence-based policy advice, with a focus on the ICT industry in Europe. Work performed in this field includes tools and methods used to identify EU poles of excellence in ICTs and still ongoing trials with knowledge discovery, pattern recognition, semantic analysis and visualisation techniques. It is addressing diverse aspects such as innovation networks, technology co-evolution or the profiling of ICT techno-economic segments.
