    The EU Expo Taskforce of the JRC has organised an international conference to close the scientific programme of activities at Expo Milano 2015.

    Taking place just one day before World Food Day, it will offer a platform where international actors from politics, the scientific community, industry, and civil society can discuss the recommendations for a "European Research and Innovation Agenda for Global Food and Nutrition Security" that have been produced by the EU scientific steering committee for Expo 2015.

    This high level conference will be the official launch of a series of discussions that the EU Scientific Steering Committee for Expo will follow during the course of the six months of the Expo. It will set in motion a process which will lead to a set of recommendations for decision makers on future priorities for research, development and innovation in the food and agricultural sector. This process will also indicate how the recommendations can best be implemented both within the EU institutions and beyond after the EXPO.

    The 2014 Euroscience Open Forum (ESOF) entitled 'Science Building Bridges' is an open platform for debating science and a showcase for European and global research at all levels.

    ESOF 2014 will be a unique opportunity for leading scientists, young researchers, students, entrepreneurs, policymakers, journalists and the general public to discuss new discoveries and debate the direction that research is taking in all the sciences.

    Tonight (25 September) is European Researchers' Night, organised in cities throughout Europe for the fourth year running with the support of the European Commission. Many research centres and universities will reveal the fun side of their scientific work to the public with live scientific experiments, demonstrations and games.

    The European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Ispra will dedicate its annual Open Day (12/05/07) to the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome. Laboratories will be open with hands-on activities for kids. Topical presentations will take place together with experiments and demonstrations.
