Fifteen companies from across the EU have been recognised today for their outstanding energy-saving with the GreenLight and GreenBuildings awards. The awards were presented at the Improving Energy Efficiency in Commercial Buildings (IEECB'14) conference in Frankfurt, Germany.

The GreenBuilding programme acknowledges innovative energy saving technologies in the following fields: heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting and control systems, building envelope, and use of renewable sources. The nine winners saved between 56% and 85% of energy.

Six GreenLight winners have achieved electricity savings ranging between 53% and 93% due to the installation of energy-efficient lighting technologies.

The GreenLight and GreenBuilding programmes were launched by the European Commission in 2000 and 2005 respectively, and are managed by the JRC.
