New JRC Data Catalogue gives scientists, policy makers, data journalists and other users quick access to all research data produced at the JRC.
On 2 June 2017, the JRC's Director-General Vladimir Šucha, and Professor Bai Chunli, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), signed a Research Framework Arrangement. The ceremony took place in the framework of the EU-China Summit 2017. The latest edition of the JRC Prospective Insights in ICT R&D (PREDICT) report is now available. It provides the most complete and extensive analysis available of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industries including their expenditure on research and development (R&D) in Europe and beyond, spanning from 1995 to the most recent year for which official statistics are available.
Digital platforms are the key element of the collaborative economy; they enable matchmaking between providers and users of goods and services at very low costs.

What type of support do EU countries offer firms to foster their creation and growth? Are the existing ecosystems comparable across the EU? Could EU countries learn from each other? These were the main questions posed in a research project on Entrepreneurship and Scale-up Indices (ESIS), the results of which have just been published by the JRC.

On 11 October, the JRC launched a new online in-house Knowledge Centre for Territorial Policies. This platform brings together a wealth of existing data, methods, and tools to support regional and urban policy, covering areas such as demography, air quality and transport.
The wifi sign with a person's hand behind netBravo is a crowd-sourcing project designed to gather and share radio spectrum data about mobile telephony coverage, WIFI channel occupancy, broadband and net neutrality connection tests.

The JRC has developed an application that will help EU citizens travelling abroad in Europe to see the quality of Wi-Fi, 4G, 3G, and GSM signals they can get in their surroundings.

'netBravo', allows the user to monitor different variables including signal strength, speed and channel usage, which are then shown in various colours depending on their quality, on a map of Europe.
