    The 10th ESARDA course has been successfully organised and hosted by the Nuclear Security Unit (ITU Ispra) from the 18th until the 22nd of March. The annual course has been conducted at JRC Ispra since 2005, featuring a full five-day program with lectures delivered by worldwide experts in the field of Nuclear Safeguards and Non-Proliferation.

    Accreditation plays a crucial role both in the EU internal market as well as in trade with third countries, e.g. in the context of the EU Neighbourhood Policy. This is exactly the reason why the JRC has fostered education in this area and has been instrumental in creating a consortium of universities which offer an international master programme in Measurement Science in Chemistry, which received a Euromaster quality label.

    Registration Now Open! - Every two years the JRC-ITU organises Summer Schools on Actinide Science at its laboratories in Karlsruhe. Young researchers from all over the world have participated in lectures, laboratory visits and demonstrations. The 8th Summer School will be held from the 15th to the 19th of June 2015.

    In the frame of the Task MED project within the Instrument of Stability, the JRC (Nuclear Security Unit of the Institute for Transuranium Elements) has organised a training course on nuclear security for Algerian law enforcement officials. The course has been held at the INPC (Institut National de Police Criminelle) in Algiers from the 11th to the 15th of November 2012.

    Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) constitute one of the most discussed trends in Open Education in postsecondary education institutions.

    The Institute for Prospective Technological Studies of the Joint Research Centre (JRC-IPTS) is looking for collaborators to produce a large knowledge base for MOOC providers covering all relevant topics to analyse this phenomenon from a European perspective.

    Scholars, researchers and policy makers are to discuss education, training and their role in finding and keeping employment at an international conference co-organised by the JRC's Centre for Research in Lifelong Learning (CRELL). The two day programme of "Catch the Train: Skills, Education and Jobs" was put together with the Directorate-General for Education and Culture and the EU-sponsored think tank European Expert Network on Economics of Education (EENEE). The event takes place on 20-21 June in Brussels.

    An EU-27 survey of intermediary organisations operating on the education, social and employment sectors and providing IT training has produced a first ever assessment of the e-Inclusion intermediary sector. It accounts for a total of 250,000 organisations, or one e-Inclusion actor per every 2,000 inhabitants. One in two employs 10 staff or less and operates on a budget smaller than €100,000. Half of the e-Inclusion actors go further and offer employment–related training. And for two out of three, local government funding is the main financial resource.
